Silvia Roman is the Co-founder and President of the “Cultural Association Sub Stejar”, which promotes art and culture among young people in Maramureș, Romania ( 2021 ). As a cultural manager, Silvia has conceived and implemented various cultural and educational projects and programs dedicated to young audiences. Starting from curating and organizing various artistic residencies în Maramureș for important artists, to cultural intervention projects in the educational field. The projects conceived by Silvia predominantly have an EXPERIMENTAL CHARACTER, beyond the carefully selected component of adaptation to the local, social, and cultural context, and the sharing of education among young people. Thus, the projects and theater performances conceived are based on CREATION LABORATORIES designed alongside renowned artists from the field of IMMERSIVE/ ITINERANT/ SENSORY/ PARTICIPATORY / STREET PERFORMANCES, with Silvia herself being passionate for years about the immersive area (art installations created / performances staged both in the country and abroad).
Silvia won the award for Best Youth Worker in 2022 at the RURAL YOUTH GALA 2022 – for the activity carried out within the Sub Stejar Cultural Association and received recognition at the local, national, and European levels for the projects carried out within the association.
We mention Some of the projects conceived and implemented:
“KALEIDOSCOPE – Creative Meetings with the Youth from Țara Lăpușului,” which for 2 editions held events and workshops for children and teenagers from the local community throughout the summer vacation period, alongside dozens of invited artists from various parts of the country and from various cultural backgrounds. The project was supported by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through winning the competition organized by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan through the National Cultural Fund.
START Creation Center for children and adolescents, where she also coordinated as a trainer the Theater Workshop FOUNDING THE FIRST THEATRE TROUPE in the area, within which she produces and directs performances from the field of EDUCATIONAL, SOCIAL and EDUCATIONAL THEATRE.
The initiator of the “FIRST TIME AT THE THEATER” project, through which hundreds of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have had the opportunity to watch a professional theater performance for the first time in their lives through day trips (free) to theaters nearby (the first one being at least 45 km away).
Silvia is responsible within the Association for promoting online and in the press all the activities carried out, as well as for collaborating and making the most of relationships with educational institutions, local authorities, county councils, embassies, associations, and foundations.
